The Snow was Fresh and Deep...
Today Neil and I both had vacation days. We had plans to stay home and prepare for Christmas but the beautiful blue skies and snow covered mountains enticed us for some snow shoeing. We went for a mid afternoon trek on Mt.Seymour on the Dog Mountain trail. It was so pretty and a nice runnable snow shoe trail. The views were spectacular and we could see many of the peaks that we climbed this year in the Bagger Challenge. What a great day!

Trying out the New Snowshoes on Mt. Seymour
Today Neil and I went to Mt. Seymour to try out our new snowshoes. They were fantastic! The weather was perfect! Fresh snow on the mountain with brilliant blue skies all day. We moved really well over the snow. It took me a bit of practice to get the technique for the steep down hill. If I leaned back too far I was on my backside sliding down the slope. The trick is to lean forward and put your weight on the toe grips of the shoes - then you are fine! Going up hill was easy and running was fun! It was a great workout. We were out there for about 2 hours. We wanted to go longer but other seasonal commitments were calling! We are excited about going again!
